UNTITLED

There's no need to write it all down.
You don't have to put words to that sound.
To describe the presence you feel
won't make it any more real.
The essence can not be detailed.

Literal
don't over explain.
Imagination gets carried away,
detracts from the true experience.

A sanctuary
to still the mind,
a place to stop looking
where I can find
what can't be seen, or read, or heard.

A falling leaf
hits the ground,
I turn my head
to identify the sound.
A calling bird, a passing car,
a refreshing breeze, a swaying tree,
such a complicated reality.
I sit quietly - watching a butterfly.

TAKE MY HAND

I can tell you
what is real to me,
I can tell you
what it is that I see.
It may be hard for
you to understand,
just believe in me
as you take my hand.

There’s a power in the
bond that we share,
there are so many
reasons why we care.
It may seem starnge,
even quite unreal,
just have faith
in what you feel.

Listen to the sounds
the silence holds,
be aware as knowledge
starts to unfold,
just sit back, let
it come to you,
don’t worry about
what you have to do.

For each of us has
a time and place,
we need to find
our own space.
If you look too hard
you’ll never see,
what will come to you
if you let things be.

1994 Journal #24, p.15

I AM !

I am the darkness,
I am the night,
I am the daytime,
I am the light.
I am the laughter,
I am the tears,
I am the dreams,
I am the fears.
I am the many,
I am the one,
I am the moon,
I am the sun.
I am the start,
I am the end,
I am the enemy,
I am the friend.
I am the water,
I am the land,
I am the finger,
I am the hand.
I am the wind,
I am the rain,
I am always changing,
I am never the same.

INSIDE

Inside, inside,
I see inside.
I look so deep
I want to hide.
I hear a calling,
a presence so near,
it fades away,
carries my fear.

Inside, inside,
I feel so safe.
For so long it’s
been my true escape,
I know what’s there
it touches me,
draws me in,
helps me see,

inside.

THE FOREST

To live in the forest
amongst the trees,
surrounded by trunks,
branches, roots, leaves.
To tread through detritus
brush against fern,
to be open, observe,
absorb and learn.

Within such life,
so alone,
can make you realize
you’re never on your own.
The force that surrounds,
the growth, the power,
the beauty in nature
the art in a flower.
To sit in the stillness
be one with the land,
is one true way
to understand.

We are part of
an innumerable whole,
beyond physical form
lies an eternal soul.

The Importance of Time and Space

Time passes,
Space is invaded,
taken up
by
Existence
the time comes
when the spaces
runs out.

Like the last line
on a page,
or an animal
in a cage,
the time comes
to move on,
to somewhere new.

A MESSAGE FROM THE SILENCE
           (Maaida Palmer 1915-1999)*

"I am not his body,
I am an eternal spirit" - Bede Griffiths

Go deep into the silence
that's where I'll be,
so excited,
my spirit is free!

I'm watching you all
grieving away,
dive into your sadhana
is what I say.

Remember my words
make them your own,
don't raise me up,
I don't need a throne.

My life was full,
my life was long,
my body grew weak,
my spirit grew strong.

So in my sleep
I slipped away,
not choosing to remain
another day

Gasping for breath,
overcome with pain,
when I knew what was
waiting down the lane.

A wonderful adventure
through time and space,
not restricted to
any single place.

So sit for a moment,
quiten your mind,
don't be surprised
if it's me you find

In your thoughts,
guiding your way,
be open to hear
what I have to say.

But more importantly
you should see,
the inner self
is what sets you free.

It's in the silence,
in the letting go,
you'll find the things
you need to know.

1999 Journal 34, p.7

THE SILENT PLACE

I feel the urge to contemplate,
to take myself into an altered state,
where time, space and knowledge are free,
I need to find the spiritual me.

I cruise along from day to day,
going with the flow in my own way,
yet I know it’s not enough for me,
I need to seek, I need to see.

The only way that I can find,
is to slow right down, still my mind,
it’s in the silence the stillness brings,
I can hear the song my spirit sings.

It’s strong and clear, it seems to hold,
the essence of what is yet to unfold.
It beckons soothes, makes everything right,
constantly waiting to bring me insight.

It’s like I turn the volume down,
occupy my self with all that’s around,
I feel the vibration but it’s time and space
which holds me back from the silent place.
